09-toulon-prepares-for-another-year-of-nuclear-safety-03Toulon is a military port with nuclear submarines. The port wants to ensure its citizens know what to do in case of an emergency. As they had done in previous years, there will be meetings to help prepare the public and the city. This year the initiative is called “PPI TOULON 2016”. The public is invited to participate. The event takes place on November 17th and 18th. There will be workshops involving students of Pierre Puget College plus general awareness campaigns about shelters plus evacuations.

At the Smart Grid event recently in Paris, nuclear energy was a major topic. Nuclear energy is already a major source of energy in France and ensuring that all the safety precautions are taken with both energy facilities and military nuclear facilities is essential to the safety of citizens and the future of the energy source.
